According to the transtheoretical model of behaviour change, your change journey starts when you’re still just contemplating it. You’re weighing it up and asking yourself questions – it’s an idea, a consideration – but, you’re not quite ready to change. (The transtheoretical model helps us to understand how individuals can successfully work towards changing their behaviour. It contains six changes that you’ll need to complete as part of your change journey.)

At this early point in your change journey, it’s useful to know what needs to be in place for you to change, what’s going to support you, and what’s going to stand in your way.
